Extremely unprofessional and misleading! We called ahead and were quoted $75 for a consultation. When we arrived, the price suddenly jumped to $100, and we were told there was a FOUR-HOUR wait, despite there being very few dogs in the waiting area. Our dog was in pain, and we wasted our time coming here based on the information THEY provided. If you can’t honor your quoted prices or communicate wait times honestly, don’t waste people’s time. Absolutely unacceptable. Zero transparency and zero respect for pet owners. I would NOT recommend this place.

I absolutely do not recommend this place. They diagnosed my cat with diabetes and then treated me like I was stupid when we couldn’t get his sugar regulated and when I would ask questions. They had me giving my cat novolin insulin which I found out is not approved for use in cats!!! This is why my cat almost died while in their care…If you want your pets to live, do not go to Shively.

Very good staff at very reasonable prices, which means they are popular and busy. They don’t do appointments, you show up early to get your name on a list, and either hang around or go home waiting to be called. But we love them. They’ve taken great care of our dogs.

They are very good but to to busy you have to sign up and go home and they call you which is good but at times it's not they are that busy

Eight (8) and One have hours. This was my wait time. From signing in and being told I would be called within 3 hours was acceptable for me...but 3 hours came and went..then 4 and then 5 hours. I finally just went back without a call and even though the lobby wasn't crowded at all there was still more than 2 plus hours before being seen. For a simple and routine vaccine the cost was 79 bucks and 120 bucks for a 2 month supply of flea control med...and in all honesty that med is not doing a lot of good yet and it's been more than 3 days since it was given to my pet. But it may take a little while before it fully works. My other concern about Shively was no one stops occasionally and gives anyone updates on their continued wait time. Shively animal hospital has always been a great place to take your pet. But now it seems more thought is given on how many people they can get seen than any thought on how being so busy that the treatment plan for the pets might unintentionally suffer a bit. Rarely will you see a vet. Maybe a vet Tech or someone trained to bring the pet to the back examining room...but rarely will you see a veterinarian. All and all the treatment given is very good...but you might want to clear your days schedule before registering your pet to be seen.
